More End of the Year stuff.. This type, it's a user-voted "Plug Awards". However, there doesn't' seem to be a lot of Can Con represented.. Other then the Arcade Fire. There was a ton of good can con records this, I hope next year the international indie community, stands up and takes a closer look at us.

More "Best Albums Of 2004", this time curiosity of my "Favorite Station Of 2004", KEXP. When I finally get my ass and pick my albums, I have a feeling many of them will be derived from this list. However, I still don't seen any Hayden, or Hidden Cameras, at least the Magnetic Fields charted.

Christmas is two days away. I have been doing the "12 Days" for Stacey. Today, is day #10. Figuring at what to do for the first nine was a real challange, I think the last couple will be a walk in the park.

Thursday, December 16, 2004

Well, the end of the year is near, and that marks the begin of the "Best of the year" lists. I've started to compile my own. I have about a 130 or so songs to sort through. I fashion of last year, I'll just ram them up, in no particular order. Any songs that were super good for whatever reason, I'll annotate in some fashion.

To start things off, WOXY has posted their 97 best. I agree with 2/3 of this list. However, a couple of my favorite records did not chart at all. "Let's bottle Bohemia" By the Thrills, "Elk Lake serenade" by Hayden and "In Between Evolution" by the Tragically Hip.

In other news, I'm back to the golden horseshoe for Christmas. I'll probably throw up a few recounts of air flight hell, or maybe some pictures of truffle making mania with Stacey.

Legendary Canadian author Pierre Berton died Tuesday. Oddly Enough, I had a conversation with Stacey a few days ago, on how I haven't yet read any of his books, but it was on my list to do. With his death, I believe it's more important then ever to recognize his accomplishments, and I will take the time to introduce myself to some of his works.

CBC as usual, has provided a nice article on him. I wonder what effect his death would of done for CBC's "The Greatest Canadian".

While, I'm not sure if I agree with the point of "The Superficial", week by week, I'm drawn more to read it. While there are many sites that offer nipple slips and quasi-celebrity porn, none do it with the halirous star bashing editoral content. Even if the photo offend your sensibilties, the rants make this site worth visiting.

Here are few random qutoes:

"Based on the promos and my knowledge of Nick and Jessica's talent, I think it's safe to say that their Christmas Special is going to suck more balls than a Mexican prostitute. And in case you're unfamiliar with Mexican prostitutes, that's a whole lot of sucking. Maybe everybody will be so distracted by Nick's uglyass sweaters that they won't notice how terrible everything else is"

"I've got no problem with marriage sites in general, but this one just pisses me off with its pretentiousness. "Hey, I'm fat and I talk a lot and I'm sort of famous so everybody pay attention to me because I just got married. And give me your email address because you don't get enough spam. Mmm...Spam."

" A number of people have pointed out that the woman in the background appears to have urinated all over the carpet while walking backwards. Good job, old woman. Urinating in public places is neat."

"Sorry Kevin, but dressing like a hillbilly hobo isn't really considered "great style." Maybe if wife beaters and giant clown pants ever come into style then you'll be onto something, but until then maybe you should just chill the fuck out"

"In other news, Clay Aiken was recently awarded the "Biggest Lameass of American Idol" Award for being the Biggest Lameass of American Idol. It was a close call between him and and Ryan Seacrest, but Ryan was disqualified when it was pointed out that he already won the "Biggest Lameass of the Universe" Award."

"That's the kind of name you read about in story books about old cobblers and talking mice. All this time I figured Julia Roberts to be somewhat of a regular person but now I know the horrible truth. Just once I'd like a celebrity to not be completely insane."

"There's just nothing quite like a teenie-bopped out teenie-bop posing on a giant lollipop to make me want to get totally high on cocaine. I mean giant lollipops? It's like I'm already high"

"when I saw JoJo's first music video I figured she was at least 18. Color me surprised when I discovered that she was really just a 6-year old in a 14-year old costume pretending to be an 18-year old girl. Or...something like that."

The Pardox of my brain. While a blog traditionaly a foroum for ones thoughts, opions, rantings and recouts of the day, my blog seems to be a mix-match diary of music, media, politics, ranting, and the odd truely personal moment. I'm sure a pyhcitrist would jump all over the fact i'd rather recount a funny pitchfork review, then spilt my brain and heart open to the mass-public. I know I could talk about so much. My recent trip back rock and roll trip back to Toronto. The Pixies and Hip concerts I have attended. I could rant about a family members birthday party, where it was an intresting and odd mix of current and past friends.. I could talk about George W and his canadian visit. Finally, I could rant chose of Tommy Douglas as the "Greastest Canadian". But I won't..

Gwen Stefani of No Doubt fame has a new solo record out. After only having the chance to hear the first single "What are you waiting for?", I had already decided that it was preety well a piece of trash. While sonically the track is catchy, however the lyrics are completly garbage.

"LOOK AT YOUR WATCH NOW!
YOU'RE STILL A SUPER HOT FEMALE!
YOU GOT YOUR MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT!
AND THEY'RE ALL WAITING FOR YOUR HOT TRACK!"

Nothing annoys me more then a rock star whinning about the pressures of rock stardom. I think another great example of this is "Hollywood", probably the biggest piece of shit Maddona has put out in recent years.

"I lost my memory in Hollywood
I've had a million visions bad and good
There's something in the air in Hollywood
I tried to leave it but I never could

Shine your light now
This time it's got to be good
You get it right now yeah
Cause you're in Hollywood"

I can't find anything rewarding about lyrics that whine about the fact that celeberity has effected their lives. I'm so sorry Gwen, that you have a million dollar contract, and by-god you have to produce a hit album. That's almost like having a job, and having actually to work. And Maddonna, I'm so sorry that the pressures of being super-star in hollywood has finally effected you. Especailly, now that you ran away to Britian, and my gosh, merried a director. There is no better way to espcape the business, then by marrying a person that help build it. Maybe Guy Ritchie could direct a movie about the pressures of being a birtish directory trying to be taking serisouly in the american film industry. The soundtrack could feature a deut with with Gwen and Madonna singing about the pressures of having celberity marriage. Maybe It could star Nicole Kidman, and have a cameo with Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz.

After reading the pitchfork review, I guess Im not the only one who doesn't approve of the new Gwen album. I almost fell off my chair laughing at the attached snippet from the review.

Gwen Stefani: Love Angel Music Baby: Pitchfork Review: "Gwen Stefani
Love Angel Music Baby
[Interscope; 2004]
Rating: 5.1

Gwen Stefani should stick to making bum flaps. Not quite a skirt, not quite a dish rag, the Stefani bum flap dangles off the guts of our divorced aunts and 12-year-old mall-slut daughters, the ones who steal Livestrong bracelets and dry-hump public schoolkids in Pac Sun dressing rooms. Bum flaps are these people's stars and stripes. Not all of us want to salute this flag, but it exists, and it gives America something else to believe in-- and it's not nearly as expensive as a valium addiction or Kaplan SAT course.

As widely predicted, 35-year old singer/fashionista Stefani has temporarily given up No Doubt to fully embrace a high-pop lifestyle with nary a pierced tongue in-cheek. The metamorphosis began with her Eve and Dr. Dre collaboration on 2001's killer single 'Let Me Blow Ya Mind', and is completed here with her solo debut Love Angel Music Baby, a spineless, starfucked advertisement for her high-end clothing line"

Finally, links to complete lyrics for both songs.

Okay, I'm going to have to investigate this posting a litte more.. Hopefully the CBC or the Globe will jump on this.
Pregnant without intercourse: Ad Contracts? Fuggedaboutit!

On a side note, I'm reading "Pregnant without Intercourse" quite often. I like the mix of Canadian politics and Rock and Roll.
Okay, this is sort of cool. Next summers blockbuster COULD be cool.. Willy Wonka, and the Dukes Of Hazzard, however, what the hell is with Jessica Simpson as Daisy ? I suppose she has the right "look", but a)can she act? I mean this a is comedy, she's with Knoxville and Seann William Scott, not exact students of Shakespeare themselves. However.. At least they have ACTED before. And I'm talking a some thing a little more substantial then her marriage with Nick. Perhaps before she takes on the challenging Daisy Duke roll, she could do warm-up movie by doing a with the Rock. At least then she's be on the same playing field as Scott and Knoxville.
b)Okay, and now on to the more important topic. DAISY IS BRUNETTE.. What the hell is a blonde hair Daisy? I trust the Broken lizard boys have watched a few episodes.. They should know this. Get this girl a dye job. Quickly.

Enough of the rant. Here is some Dukes pics scooped of FilmForce.
JoBlo.com Movie News: 1st Dukes pics online

I really have to start writing something a little more personal and meaty then Dukes of Hazzard rants. Maybe After watching "The Sponge Bob Squarepants Movie" this weekend, I'll be in a better mood to write a personal, introspective blog. Or maybe I'll go golfing.

I don't really think much about the pot debate. Because I'm not involved with it and not effected directly, which ever way it goes, I never really gave it a ton of thought. I've heard Pros and cons on both sides, and each have valid points. However, after reading this Macleans article, as Canadians, we should re-visit this issue again.. Why is it that are laws have not changed, because of the threat of American trade disruptions? I know they are largest trading partner, but we have the right to deal with based on our own canadian morality, just as they have the right to refuse trade based on their American morality. However, according to this article, "The amount of marijuana seized at the Mexican-U.S. border is more than 100 times greater than the amount caught heading south from Canada", it makes me deeply suspicious that there is deeper issues at bay.

It's been well covered in the media.. RIP ODB.

I'm suprised I just found out about this little "SP2" quirk now. It appears starting with SP2, Microsoft has started to limit the amount of simultaneous TCP connections to 10. Previously it was unlimited. I wonder if this is a backhanded attack on P2P. I assume, for every p2p connection, there is a TCP connection as well. Limiting the amount of available ports would inevitably hinder multi-sourced transfers.. A possible answer in why lately my torrent d/ls has been slower.

Anyways, somebody has posted a fix for it. I'm sure there is a ton of security risks involved with using a non-standard backported file.. I won't suggest this fix to any of my "uninformed" friends.

CBC News: George Stroumboulopoulos departs MuchMusic

I gave up watching much a couple year ago, but it seems like then end of another era at Much . Other then the odd guest appearances of Ed the Sock, the Odd Going coastal and Late Friday episodes of THE WEDGE, It MuchMusic has lost one of it's last redeeming qualities. It will be interesting to see how George digs his teeth into something a little deeper then the latest Britney rumor. While, I'd rather not was much more thought on Much, but my guesss is that the are going to replace George with some sort of santantized pseudopunk Asheele Simpson wannabe.

Here is a clip of George announcing his departure

Drat!, a final good point for Much, the Wedge is currently playing Pavement's amazing "Cut Your Hair".

FireFox 1.0 has finally been released. I've been using Firefox since about version .6 or so. At first Firefox was just a curiosity, I didn't the old Netscape like mozilla browser. It was big, and bulky and ugly. Firefox, was it's little brother a odd creature with a few quirks, however the slim, plugin design gave it a huge up swing. I was in control of what features my browser would have. And then, came the plugins. Adblock to be specifc. I was sold. From that point on in, Firefox is my first install on a new install. When faced in environments where IE is still the standard, I find myself hitting "CTR-T", in hopes a new tab, rather then a window would appear.
Firefox has grown into a mature well designed web browser. It is THE BROWSER to beat. Finally, with the release of 1.0, Firefox is ready for prime-time.

Casey's Conjectures

I figure it out. I understand what happened. I know why the election results turned out the way they did. People across American. They were busy celebrating the Red Sox's Victory. They were too busy lamenting over the Lakers starting lineup:

"I turned on TNT last night to watch the Lakers inaugural game of the 2004 season against Denver, I actually had to look online to find the starting lineup of Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom, Chris Mihm, Chucky Atkins and Caron Butler"

On the eve of the most important election in recent American history, the average Joe American was busy worrying his favorite NBA, rather the fate of his country, and the possible destruction of his freedoms.
Well. Americans voted. They voted for Bush. A lot of Americans are cheering! So am I. Really. Yeah!! A Vote for the right!! A vote for middle America! A vote for the troops. I'm sure the boys over in Iraq are thanking all you right voting Americans now. Really, I am sure they are. I was always under the presumption that Americans believed in freedom. Isn't that the "American Way?". On the issue of gay rights, somehow, taking away somebody's freedom, their RIGHT to love whoever they want to. I guess it's not a choose of freedom to merry the person that one loves. I guess that isn't an expression of freedom. Instead, they use their freedom to vote for a government that has lead a relentless assault on their personal freedoms and rights, while waving the flag, guns a' blazing and praying to Jesus. I guess I should of bought Haliburton stocks yesterday. I think they will be holding their value for at least another for years. George W. Bush, and middle America I congratulate you. You have guaranteed another four years of great angry punk music.

BBC Great John Peel Passed away on Monday (25 Oct 04). Living in Canada, I was never lucky enough to hear his show first hand, but it isn't hard to recognize his contributions to rock and roll. Mp3 blog, Music for Robots has a nice tribute and a link to John Peel's reported favorite song, the Undertones "Teenage Kicks"

music (for robots)
Well, I guess it's cool to be anti-bush. Following in the steps of "Fahrenheit 911", The rock against bush compilations and Greenday's "American Idiot", a new video by Eminem. Pitchfork has a review and a link to the video "Mosh"

Pitchfork: We Are The World

I hope all this Hollywood Anti-bush hype will encourage Americans to vote. I fear with all this hype, that Americans will think that the Kerry platform is Pro-Hollywood and disconnected from average voter. However, any effort to get the american public to get out and vote, and talk politics is a great thing.

Now if only Canada could encourage and maintain a youthful open exchange of politics and ideas. We could use some new dialogues and policies that connect with the average Canadian.

Ah, more intriguing postings from "MY WAR".. Jello Barfia enlightening the blog with a message, and the pro-war, fuck the hippies jump all over him, and the leftist-liberal-granola types celebrate his near toothless post. God love America.
MY WAR: "JELLO BIAFRA"

Personallay, Jello Barfia and Henry Rollins, are two of my most respected GenX voices of the 90s. Remember the 90s? When Clinton was too busy getting crazy the cigar tubes, to really bother launching bad strikes against Americas enemy's? Sure, Bin would piss him off, and he'd order the navy to launch a few cruise missiles at him, and his friends.. But it really didn't cause the mess that Iraq now is..

However, I agree with the Right in someways. War is about action, weather you support it or your against it. Stand Up and Take Action.. Don't pussy behind keyboard. Especially if you are somebody people respect and listen to.

On a related note Gothamist informs about this fun Q&A with the Daily Show ringleader:

Jon Stewart: I can't. It's too hip. Then I'd have to get a BlackBerry, and I'm wired in, and next thing you know, I'm at a Black-Eyed Peas concert with a crack problem. I just can't go down that road."

Yippee, Rock and Roll Update!!!!

Tegan and Sara "So Jealous" was released today. No mp3's or "go and download" for this one.. Their last album "If it was you" is one on my favorite album in at least the last 3 years. I plan on buying it tomorrow from a traditional retailer.. However it is available from:
It's probably on Itunes and for sure can be found at your local record store.. As well, there is a nice article and some media on them on Rollingstone.com.

In related "favorite bands releasing new music" news, Lowest of the Low, Yes, Lowest of the Low, have a brand new album "Sordid Fiction". It's out Next week.. 21 Sept 2004. It looks like they are touring the golden horseshoe and England, but not Western Canada. I really have no idea what type of fan base they have out here. However, it won't stop me from buggin "CFOX" and "KEXP" to play the new single
2 Posts in day.. Yeah!

Firefox 1.0 Preview Release is out! The Search in page function has been spiffed up, and RSS enabled Live bookmarks ("Livemarks") have been added.. Sexy, Very Sexy.

As well, check out "Spread Firefox".. An initiative to get the word out about Firefox, and all of it's sexyness..

On A side note, Thunderbird .8 was also released.. I've recently started to use it, and I have to say it's the best email client I've used in a long time. Now, If they could just steal the GUI from Gmail..

I remember my days of youth. Everytime I hear the song "Tommorow" by Silverchair, I think of Spencer Smith park, and the friday night concert series at the Gaziebo.. All of us skids, skaters freaks, and BBS G33k5 piling down there to catch whatever was cool at the time.. Maybe if the Band was good enough, pick up the tape, so on the way home, I could play in in the mighty tempo (When I was old enough to drive).. Bands like Col Chunk.. Trunk (Punk as Fuck). I think even the Rainbow Butt Monkeys, AKA Finger11 might of did a show.. I remember everybody (But me) being stoned.. I think they used to smoke up, and mess around in the bushes behind that crap-ass motel. Before I moved to BC, I was wondering around down there. I noticed that they had cut down all the bushes and the trees in the corner there.. I wondered where the kids were going to smoke up now. Acid, Pot, Shrooms, Whatever the hell they were on.. Before I drove, sometimes we would wonder around the streets after the show.. A pack of ever chaning faces, just wondering around downtown, mostly high.. I usually wondered around to waste time, and watch the druggies.. It was sort of fun watching everybody trippin' out and then coming down.. As the 'clean kid-geek-tagalong It was always my role to babysit them while they were tripping out. Usually somebody had a bad trip.. I remember wondering around downtown Burlington looking for a place to buy Orange Juice.. Somebody had started a rumor that it would bring you down from a bad trip.. I have no idea if it was true, but it did shut them up. Even though it was sort of friday tradition, It allways sucked for me, as I usually had to open at McDonalds the next day. I had alot of street cred for that "Sorry guys, i gotta go home, so i can wake up tommorow and go to work at Mcdonalds".. Not exactly the rock'n'roll job of

Anyhow, the songs that defined this time, Silverchair's 'tommorow'.. I was never a big Silverchair fan, but they defined the time well. They seemed to be young, confused and like to peform Pearl Jam ripoffs, much like the bands in Burlington.

..Rembering the summers of the past reminds me how old I am. Fuck I'm old.. I'm going to ponder what musically defined this summer. I'll post it soon.

When I first found blogs from soldiers from around the world, I was quite surprised that would fly, especially in an operational theater. For the last month, I've been reading CBFTW's "My War" blog.. Fun, Fun, Fun... I guess all this rain we have been getting is pay back for the rest of the summer.. I'm pretty sure it has rained everyday for the last week.

Anyho, after getting mildly screwed by Bell Mobility, I dejectedly it was time to get a land line via Vonage Canada. I signed up for the $19.99 package. 500 mins of anytime calling in north America. All incoming calls free. Coool. So far, I have to say I'm very impressed. The representative I talked to when I signed up was decent. However, I think she should of giving me a Hamilton # instead of Vancouver #, when I told her of my situation. Other then that She answered all my basic questions, and accurately setup my account. The delivery of the Motorola digital phone adapter (DPA) was amazing. I received it Tuesday after ordering it last Wednesday night. The adapter included clear and concise basic installation information. It included both single PC and multi PC setups, However I disagree with some of the installation instructions.. I was also disappointed that the instructions made no mention of Universal Plug and Play(UPnP). However, ignoring the instructions, I plugged the DPA into my existing Microsoft MN-700 Gateway/Router, and plugged my phone into it (A very sexy, yet particle Panasonic KX-TG2313). I did no configuration of either device.. (A stupid person test).. To my delight, it worked wonderfully. So far the voice quality is excellent, and I appreciate the straight forward Vonage Dashboard, where I can even listen to my voicemail online. Cool. Even More cool, you can have your voicemail emailed to you. Overall, after 7 days since signing up.. The next test is the billing date.. Hopefully there will be no "hidden surprises" like so many other phone plans.

I have some pictures from rainy day a visit to Mount Baker that Stacey and I did earlier this week. I'll post them sometime soon..

The new Tegan and Sara "so jealous" is out 14 Sept 04.. "If It Was You was You", their last disk was my one of my favorite of 2002. I'm still listening to it on average once a month... Anyhow, there is a couple 56k Mp3's on the teaser site

I know I should have a lot more to talk about, but bah, I'm lazy. Anyhow, In the realm of Blogs, I stumbled across this first on /. and then on the blogger home page. I'm sure as the bloggin craze continues there will be a lot more of this. Candie (Notice, with an IE, and not a "Y") and the fine Goodyear family bring us a first hand look at the Hurricane Charley, and it's after effects. However, for some reason, I get the pictures of some backwoods Americans, shacked up in their trailer parks, with their 51' plasma TV's, Jerry Springer DVD's, portable generators, cellphones, shotguns secured, Camcorders ready waiting for the "big one" and praying to the good lord. Yee haw!!

Tonight, I listened to a tribute to Joey Ramone for the billionth time on "The Ongoing History of New Music".

I was -3 Years old when they played there first show in '74. However, their influence was felt in all of the music I grew up with. The Beastie Boys Green Day, Gob and Blink 182 and many others all owe a piece of their success to the Ramones. The influence of the band is still felt today with any of the pop-punk-rock stuff that's clogging the radio. While I'm not sure if Avril has ever visited Rockaway Beach, I'm pretty sure her stylist has.

Sometime In the early 90's. I had the pleasure of seeing the Ramones open up for White Zombie @ Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, On. I don't remeber much of the show except the trademark Ramones "1-2-3-4..". However, the show for me set in concrete the legend that is the Ramones.

Ramones, Rock and Roll misses you.

In the last 6 months, I've gone from a commercial radio to a public radio. A lot of people groan on the thought of anything cbc radio related. However, I believe it's a national gem. Getting away from the Toronto, the Rock and Roll centre of Canada, it's a bit more challenging to find and be introduced to new music. Or so I thought. Actually, moving away from southern Ontario, has encouraged me to seek out new music sources. Mostly from independent and non-commercial bands. The Best source that I have found it College and university radio, along with CBC radio 2 and the online Cbc Radio 3. I was quite surprised to find out how cool radio 3 is. The (weekly?) produced web-zine reads like a magazine, and it's very good introduction to what's going musically in Canada. CBC Radio 3 seems to have a no-boundaries approach to music, but don't go looking for the information on Ryan Malcom or Nickelback. This week the featured street level look at NxNE in Toronto. They captured some great performances. My favorite was Kinnie Starr performing at the (Legendary) Horseshoe Tavern. I had heard of her, took the time to explore her music. I must say I was very impressed. The next time she does a show locally, I will be sure to attend.

---

1 Package of Coho Salmon.
1/4-1/2 Cup of Maple Syrup (The real shit!)
2 tablespoons miracle Whip (Or the Master Choice nook off which I used)
1-2->1 tbsp. Louisiana Hot Sauce
1 Tablespoon Canola Oil

1. Heat up the grill. Get it nice and hot
2. In the meantime, mix Maple Syrup, miracle whip, hot sauce and oil in a small dish. Nuke it for thirty seconds to a minute. Cook the sauce just enough for it to turn to liquid mixture.. Stir until the miracle whip is mostly disheveled (It won't all disable and end a little chunky. That's ok)
3. Following the directions of your bbq for salmon filets, grill salmon for 5-7 Minutes, basting regularly with sauce..
4. Baste it once last time, and flip in. Immediately baste the cooked side.
5, Grill for another 7 or so minutes, again basting regularly. (use that stuff up!)
6. Continue grilling until the fish flakes lightly...

I served it with rice, and a salad made up of spinach and fresh herbs.. Enjoy!

I've been slacking on this whole blog thing. I will continue to blubber about music. If your looking for cool music, something decent to listen to, check out 97X from Cincinnati. I have no doubt this is the coolest non-college radio station I have ever heard. When So many radio station call themselves "modern rock" and still play creed and nickleback, it's great to see a station that actually plays cutting edge music, from all genres of music. I've already heard a whack of new music and interesting bands. As well, they display the current playlist, so you can checkout what you just heard.. Very Exellent.

January was looking pretty scary at first with the post-xmas glut of new music. However with a little help from a few classic, a visit to pitchfork and a couple hours of listing to 97x I was able to compile a pretty fun CD. So without further ado, here is the January track listing. It's called "January 2004: Say what you want" (original Eh?)

I like to swear. I really should stop. I wonder if there in an Swearing Anonymous. Perhaps a 12 Step Program?

Whelp. Sunday. I know I should be talking about something interesting here. However, I don't think that's will happen. I'm making a list of songs from last year - for myself. I'll share it with my girlfriend. But I'm not even sure she gives a shit. And why should she? I know she has her favorites. I guess blogs are kind of this "If a tree falls in the forest, does anybody here". Or perhaps "If I publish a blog of crap, does anybody read?". I know there is a billion of these useless as fuck blogs that people post their mostly useless-as-shit thoughts.

Anyways, and addition to the list:
141. Outkast - Hey Yah!. I don't know how I missed it. Pretty cool song. However, I'm not very cool. So that's not saying much

My thought for the day:

"I like Guinness" I really Like "Guinness + Strongbow (Black Velvet)"

Saturday, January 03, 2004

So here it is.. My Top 140 Or so Songs of 2003. As voted by Me. Some of it's crap. However, please notice, no printing/Christina/Madonna/metallic/Limp/etc. Sorry Kids, Your music is crap. Perhaps next year.. I should of taken Evanescence out of this list. I love her voice, but that band smells of crap. I think she's married to some dumbass from Good Charlotte. Scary combo. Overtime I'll probably edit this down, and add some song I forgot. 90% of these songs can be found on fine p2p apps like Soulseek. However, Do rock'n'roll a favour and go buy a CD or see a live show by one of these fine bands.

So here is the list in no particular order..

Along with going to the Bulldogs game yesterday, I took the time to go to Sonic Unyon Record Store in Hamilton, On. on York Street. If you are into live music/independent music or just a music lover (Read: Rock Snob/Punk Kid) and love stores like Penguin Music Or Rotate This , you'll probably love this store. I picked up "Matmos: The Civil war", and "Guided by Voices: Human amusement at Hourly Rates" (GBV's Greatest Hits). Fun stuff all around. While your in downtown Hamilton, check the Farmers Market out in the Hamilton Eatons Centre. Lots of good deals to be found of on all sorts of tasty stuff.

03 Jan 04
So I finally got of my ass, and started to do a blog. However, Its three years after it was cool, and at least ten years before it becomes cool again. But what the hell else do I have to do at 5:30 AM (EST)? . Last Night I was at a Hamilton Bulldogs games. They got their asses kicked by Syracuse. Only one fight, and it wasn't much of one. It was still well worth the 20 bucks Cdn.

For my first official post, I'm going to setup my top picks of 2003 for music. I have it down to 140 Songs or so. I was trying to sub categorize it from there. However, it still doesn't seem to pick. I have no #1, and some of the songs are 5 years old. But, that's what my year was like in music, re-discovering decent music, and remembering the stuff I use to like.
